Christmas Bureau

Christmas Bureau was a huge success thanks to the generosity of our communnity - from corporate partners, indivdiual adopters, volunteer shoppers and intake workers and partner agencies - and many, many others.  More than 2,900 families were adopted through the program.

The Christmas Bureau is a long-standing community-wide initiative facilitated by United Way to match families in need with caring people. The first records of the Christmas Bureau reported 445 families were adopted in 1941.  United Way staff and volunteers work to register eligible families during intake, recruit adopting families, solicit donations and connect those in need with those willing to give.

How much should I spend on a family?

The amounts vary based on what size family you adopt.  First determine what amount you, your family or group are comfortable contributing.  View the family cost table to determine what size family or how many families best fit that budget.  To further increase the numbers of families reached through private adoption, the Christmas Bureau highly recommends its adopters consider adopting multiple families or a larger family instead of over-spending on one.
