2012 Requests for Proposals Announced
(Sept. 19, 2011) United Way of Greater Topeka Requests for Proposals (RFP) for 2012 funding are available on its website.
Five funding opportunities are available. Four of the opportunities are for strategies supporting 10-year community goals. The fifth opportunity addresses Basic Needs. Additional opportunities to apply for funding will be available beginning in the first quarter of 2012. The RFP process is open to 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt charitable organizations that provide services in Shawnee and Jefferson counties. Click here to apply.
RFPs for funding opportunities have been released for programs meeting specific requirements within the following goals and strategies:
- Early Education Goal:
Increase by 50 percent the number of children who have the pre-literacy skills necessary to start Kindergarten- Strategy: Children of all abilities will participate in high-quality early-learning programs with pre-literacy components.
- Strategy: Children of all abilities will participate in high-quality early-learning programs with pre-literacy components.
- On-Grade Achievement Goal:
Reduce the achievement gap by 50% in 3rd grade reading and 6th grade math for low-socioeconomic students.- Strategy: Students will increase reading and math skills through consistent one-on-one or small group tutoring.
- Strategy: Connect families and children to school in order to improve achievement.
- Financial Stability Goal:
Cut in half the number of low-income families and individuals who are financially unstable.- Strategy: Increase the number of families that adequately manage their expenses.
- Strategy: Increase the number of families that adequately manage their expenses.
RFPs for funding opportunities within Basic Needs are also available. Basic needs assistance addresses people in crisis and includes:
- Food, Shelter, Rent & Utilities, Health Care/Prescription Assistance, and Safety from Domestic Violence.
