United Way Board Names New CEO
[Topeka, KS May 6, 2008] Following a months-long search process, the United Wayof Greater Topeka Board of Directors announced that
Miriam Krehbiel of
Bakersfield, CA , will succeed the retiring
Nancy Perry this summer.
Krehbiel currently serves as president and chief professional officer for the United Way of
Kern
County ,
Bakersfield, CA . She has provided their leadership for the past nine years.
“Miriam impressed the search committee with her passion for the non-profit work, her community building and collaboration experiences, and her previous medical and private-sector employment history,” explained Joe Aleshire, board chairman of the United Wayof Greater Topeka. “The process to find an experienced and personable individual to fill
Nancy ’s shoes was very important to this board, and we believe we have made an excellent choice for a new United Way leader.”
“We are pleased that Miriam will be joining the team in July. We expect she will make a trip to
Topeka sometime in June to begin meeting community leaders, United Waystaff and the media,” Aleshire added.
Nancy Perry , United Way President and CEO for 25 years, added her enthusiasm to the announcement of Krehbiel’s selection. “I don’t know Miriam personally. I know many other leaders in United Waywho speak very highly of her. I look forward to introducing Miriam to the community I love.”
Krehbiel is a native Kansan, grew up in Moundridge, and graduated from
Bethel
College in
Newton . She is excited about the opportunity to return home to
Kansas .
